Portobello Mushroom Cheesesteaks

  • 4 large portobello mushrooms
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 bell peppers, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 slices of provolone cheese
  • 4 hoagie rolls


  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Clean the portobello mushrooms by gently wiping them with a damp paper towel. Remove the stems and slice the mushrooms into thin strips.
  3. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and bell peppers, and cook until they are softened, about 5 minutes.
  4. Add the minced garlic, dried oregano, dried thyme, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Cook for an additional 2 minutes.
